The 2010 Club Championship was Craig's from the word go. Let me explain... Craig figured if he could get us to stay down there and get all shit faced Saturday night, most hackers would be useless come Sunday. Well he was right, Craig 'Fred Flintstone' Foster won the 9th NSHGC Club Championship by 10 strokes. Missing the record by one stroke.
But it was a great 2010 Club Championship and Rita and Dan were gracious hosts. In fact Dan 'Quiet Man' Rogers earned a new nickname 'The Craftsman' as he has built a beautiful home down the cape. There was just so much love this weekend and the picture below just tells the whole story....
Congratulations Craig 'Fred Flintstone' Foster on your first major victory...
JJ sleeping with his new friend Saturday night, they spent the whole night together, it was so sweet......

DUNEGRASS DOG POO ....... 8-21-10
JJ lets his drip rip on the 17th tee right into the trees right, after a 20 minute wait to hit......
Even thought JJ had a poor shot here on camera, it was his day as he beat Count Cainiac by 4 strokes. And took home all the hackerXpts except for a tie in putts with 28. But more than me taking a beating by JJ on the course, the course was a very disappointing. Nope those are not the words I am looking for.... what is it? SHITHOLE! That's right... The worse greens I have played on all year and that includes early spring golf. Just aweful condition with the whole course. And not too mention the 20+ minute wait on the 17 tee box. Not sure why but when we got there, there was two groups on the tee and one still on the green. The three women in the group in front of us were members and said they were not happy with the condition of the course. I expected a really nice course and it was just beat to shit and very poor maintenance.
GROOMIN' IT AT THE LINKS ....... 8-15-10
Matt dropped a 20 foot put on the 18th hole to wrap up the grooms day on the Links anyway!.....
It was the grooms day and he made it so on the 18th green at Links at Outlook, draining a 20 foot putt and taking his team to the promise land. OK, a little patch of Maine but it had the high fives ringing out left and right and was a fine conclusion to the golfing part of the day.
Team best man however won the bachelor party scramble. Leaving the Groom's putt just a piece of the day and not the shot of the day....
The hackers that participated in the Bachelor party scramble received 10 hackerXpts. The others will receive the usual for a Saturday round. I was low hacker and hit the most greens in regulation. Eric hit the most fairways, and Chuck had the fewest putts with 28 and chipped in three times on the day.
18th AT RED TAIL LANDED IN 2!....... 8-8-10
'Sandman' Lomes with his approach to the 18th green, and yes it did find the sand just to the left of the green.....
It was a find day at Red Tail but our games where off a bit. However, Scott did throw out and offer on this day. As Scott knows I have been trying to land this green in two for 8 years now, since Red Tail opened. My drive was a good one but as always seemed to find the pit on the right side of the green. And as usual I was at the end of the pit on the upslope. Always have layed up from this spot but with an offer to pay for next weekend's round if I land the green in two, there was simply nothing to loose going for it. A complete blind shot with the hill in front of me a ripped a 14 degree 3wood and caught it flush and the ball flew off my club. The excitement was almost overwhelming as I knew as soon as I hit it, it had a chance. And sure enough it found the green. Probably the best shot any hacker will ever see the 'Count Cainiac' hit and only one of you were there to see it. Too bad it was a site to behold. And the truly sad part is Scott never watched the shot as he didn't not give me a chance in hell to hit the green from there. My masterpiece with no witnesses.... lol
One last thing.... Updating the site today I noticed that I have 14 out of the top 20 rounds this season. Who is going to step up and start knocking some of my rounds off that list?
JJ GETS THE SHOT!....... 7-31-10
JJ gets the ball coming off my club, it is only the second time someone has captured my tee shot in this manner.....
It was a fine day at Stow Acres today, not too hot... just right! At least I am not hugging the porcelain bowl after this round.... But JJ had all the shots on this day. Not only did was he the second hacker able to capture the ball coming off my club but he is the only hacker this season to beat me at the most hackerXpts on the day. And the only hacker to shot lower than me this season outside of majors anyway. JJ was low hacker, he hit the most fairways (7) and greens in regulation (7) and missed out on low putts by two as me and Scott tied with 28.
HARRY HEDGEHOG AT SAGAMORE....... 7-27-10
I felt like I was literally at Bushwood today at Sagamore in Hampton, NH as there were hedgehogs everywhere on the course.....
NEXT GENERATION 'COUNT CAINIAC'....... 7-25-10
Neil Boston Smith my godson can play a pretty good game of golf for 9 years old......
A round of golf at Wentworth Golf Club in Jackson, NH with my godson, mother and father. Lucky my mother knows how to handle three generations of 'Count Cainiac's'... lol Not bad scores either with 80, 83 and 103. Jim 'Sharky' Kane seems to of found a swing to fit his old, weathered body and hit the ball much better than the last time I played with the old man. And and 83 sure showed it.
Wentworth golf course in Jackson, NH is and ideal place to take the ladies or young ones as it is a fairly short course but definitely woman friendly so you guys know.
The 8th green and the 9th tee box before you head back over the covered bridge......
JUNIPER HILLS SWEAT BOX....... 7-18-10
The 17th on the Riverside course, 204 yard par 3 all carry over water. How many hackers found the water?...
The answer to that question is 67% found the water on this fine, sweaty day. But a missed putt went all for not...! As most of us know Juniper Hills has two courses and the Riverside course is a lot more playable than the tight Lakeside course. I personally can see a club championship here in the future. I can see one played with both courses and one with just the Riverside course. One with just the Lakeside course would be almost as aggravating as playing a club championship all on the South course at Stow Acres... lol
I also gave JJ and Kevin both an extra hackerXpt.. for playing 36 holes on this hot day. And from know on the second round of a 36 hole event will be worth two points instead of one. However, I was low man on the day with an 85, JJ and myself tied for most fairways with 6, and Kevin and myself tied for most GIR's with 7, and Kevin was low man on putts with 29 on the Lakeside course. Just about all over the other leaders came on the Riverside course with the wider fairways and larger greens.
Closing in on our club championship. I hope we have a good turn out and please let me know as soon as possible if you are playing or not.... Thanks Hackers....
TIME MACHINE.......by Chuck Leblanc 7-12-10

The original hackers enjoying a moment with the 'Dream Boy' during the 2003 Club Championship...
It make’s me long for the worry free weekends we all used to have. I can’t wait for somebody to invent a time machine, so we can go back to the days of good knees, ankles, backs, and livers. I truly miss the long pot smoke filled car rides home from the cape. Ahaaaaaaa, The booze, cigars, weed, The loud music, the Cool ranch Doritoe’s, Eric’s uncanny ability to always get us home in one piece, and of course, the golf. For the sake of nostalgia, please post more pictures of men with brown hair, smoking Pope Mobiles, wooden clubs, Wind torn umbrella’s, crispy-dried golf gloves, and my favorite, the torn golf towel with the shit-stains on it, (promptly returned by the green’s keeper). Thanks for all the wonderful memories…..Very Truly Yours (the original secretary of NSHC “02”) Chuck “Dream Boy” LeBlanc.

RYAN QUINN 2010 MATCH PLAY CHAMPION....... 7-10-10
THE PUTTER DOMINATES MATCH PLAY....... 7-10-10

Ryan 'The Putter' Quinn dominated this years Match Play Championship. First Ryan took care of business with Craig, beating him 8 & 6. Then beat 'The Puppet Master' even worse with a 9 & 7 spanking. Ryan also had the low round of the tournament with a 90, he also hit the most fairways in a round with 8, and hit the most greens in regulation with 5. JJ was low man putting with 30.
There was a small rain delay during the championship but it did not detour Ryan as he dominated both rounds as neither one was able to get bye the 12th hole.
CONGRADULATIONS Ryan 'The Putter' Quinn on your first major win...
2010 MATCH PLAY CHAMPIONSHIP....... 7-7-10

Well it is time for the 2010 Match Play Championship. Another championship without the defending champion taking part. And the second year in a row were we could only get 4 hackers to participate in the Match Play Championship. Little surprised about that since we set a record in the first major of the season with the number of hackers participating. But it is just a sure sign of the times. The good thing is there are many more championships ahead of us and I am sure when the economy gets back to normal we can enjoy a larger group of hackers for the majors, until then it will just be the usual hackers.
As far as this years Match Play Championship goes, I am giving JJ the upper hand as he has been playing the best golf lately. But you can never rule out the Puppet Master as he can find the zone at any given time. Craig will have to deal with giving Ryan a lot of strokes and will he be able to overcome that I am not sure. Well good luck guys and may the best hacker win....
HACKER SHOOTS PAR!... WHAT?....... 7-3-10

Read it and weep...two over on the front, two under on the back....
It was a fine tune up day for the Match Play Championship next weekend. The only problem is I had the round of my life this weekend... Well that is par for my life but on this day it felt good to swing a golf club. Five birdies, ten pars, two bogies and one double bogie... it was an up and down battle but Count Cainiac got it done. A par 71 and I needed a birdie on the last to do it. The first hacker to par a course in an official hacker round. Speaking of that I was low scorer with 71... did I tell you that yet? Eric hit the most fairways with 10, I hit the most GIR's with 12 tying the record number of GIR's in a round, and also had the fewest putts with 26.
The last tee shot on 18, proved to be the key, left me with a 30 yard chip that I got close and hit the putt for the birdie and a par 71....
JJ 'THE BEAR' GALLANT 2010 NSHGC OPEN CHAMPION........ 6-6-10
JJ 'THE BEAR' GALLANT TAKES HIS THIRD OPEN........ 6-6-10
JJ takes aim at the flagstick on the 9th hole called 'double trouble'...
A short turnout for the 2010 NSHGC OPEN but not the desire to win the 5th OPEN championship. But 'The Bear' stood firm and took home the trophy for the third time. Craig had a one stroke lead after the first round but an amazing start to the first nine on the second eighteen prove to be the difference.
The Bear was one shot over par going into the 9th hole 'double trouble' but then the wheels almost came off. JJ posted a nine on the 9th hole but did not let it affect him and he managed to hold on and win by six stokes.
Cainiac was low gross and posted the lowest round of 84. JJ and Craig tied for most fairways total, but JJ posted a day best of 10 fairways the second round. Cainiac also posted the most greens in regulation with 15 and 8 the first round. Craig was low man for putts with 62 and a low of 30 the first round.
Congradulations JJ...

LINKS AT THE OUTLOOK, AWESOME !........ 5-22-10
A view from the 12th tee box at the Links at Outlook a special place to play, when the locals are home with there pitchforks....
I personally do enjoy the Links at Outlook and really would like to shoot under par there someday. I know it is possible...
But this was not that day, but a beautiful golf day it was and the hackers were out there enjoying it, at least five of them were enjoying the links at the outlook. I look forward to dominating the Match Play Championship back there in a month or so.
Today I was low man with a 82 but could be an 83 as I am not sure about a possible man made object that my ball came to rest on, on the 17th hole. Either way I was low hacker. Also managed to hit the most fairways were I am usually not the leader. Adam hit the most greens in regulation today with three. That's right three, it was a scarce day for greens in regulation. However the hackers did putt lights out today. Well if you were a hacker and your name was Jay, you had 28 putts. But there were three of us on this day Jay Gallant, Jay Szklut, and Jay Kane all with 28 putts...
Does not look like there is much going on next week. And it is such a great opportunity for some of you to catch up on HackerXpts...?! But it is what it is and the OPEN is right around the corner. Remember the OPEN is open to anyone with a legitimate handicap so if u have a friend or relative that wants in just let them know and let me know there handicap and a quick glance of there GHIN card that day would be nice also.
Also just want to mention one other thing. I did say that I would hide more hackerXpts within the site and other quizzes would be coming so make sure u check out the site from time to time. That is as far as I go with letting u guys know the hackerXpts are out there.
HACKERS, HACKERS, HACKERS! ........ 5-20-10
What's up Hackers...
I am writing this article for several different reasons. First of which is I need to vent. This club always gets under my skin at some point during the season as the communication breaks down and I start to get frustrated. I do not get frustrated that people are not playing but more the fact that they are not communicating with me so I know what is going on. And what happens I make too many tee times and have to cancel them and it gets frustrating from that stand point. But it is what it is and I always feel better after I vent. So I am venting... lol
Second I want to thank most of you that are reading this because the other half of the club will never see this as they never come to the site. Always makes me wonder why we have the site but whatever. But those of you that read this before this Saturday and reply before then will receive 10 hackerXpts. Those of you that reply after that will need to earn your hackerXpts.
For the hackers that reply to this with Quiz 3 in the subject line will get 2 hackerXpts plus 2 hackerXpts for every correct answer to the quiz. So technically you can receive up to 22 hackerXpts by replying to this before Saturday 22 May at 11pm after that 12 hackerXpts will be available.
1. Arrange the following wedges in order of increasing loft. A. gap wedge B. lob wedge C. pitching wedge D. sand wedge
2. A best-guess estimate of the number of golf courses in the world is about. A. 8,000 B. 35,000 C. 80,000 D. 300,000
3. Name the astronaut who hit golf balls on the moon on Feb. 6, 1971?
4. Which Hacker has recorded the most rounds lifetime with the NSHGC?
5. Which golf course has hosted the most NSHGC major championships?

FREE SECOND 18 AT QUAIL RIDGE ........ 5-16-10
It was tough getting through the Quail Ridge tunnel and most Hackers ended up like my cats kill....
It was a beautiful golf day at Quail Ridge, however the high winds made it interesting. Not to mention the course is a nice little test. And when they told us we could just go out for the second 18 holes we ate and went right back out for another 18. At least the three true hard core Hackers did. Guess that's why we are the President, VP, and Secretary...
If not for 'Rain Man's 28 putts I would of had a clean sweep of HackerXpts, as I dominated per usual. Is there no competition left in this golf club... lol Also some of this day made the record books as Ryan topped the 4th spot in penalties in a round with 12. And the outing itself produced 33 penalties which also makes the record books.
Closing up on the NSHGC OPEN in a few weeks. And I am sure Waverly Oaks will be ready to be had by then...!
WET AT RED TAIL ........ 5-8-10
JJ and Eric discuss the fine playing conditions on this beautiful golf weather day at Red Tail.....
It was a day not meant for golf, but as usual the hackers kept there commitment. At least 50% of us did and that was bad news for the other half that did not play. Since at least 50% of the scheduled hackers played it was official making the three no shows a less than 24 hour cancellation which means minus two hackerXpts for all three of you. And as a bonus the three hackers that did play get to split those 6 points. At least you don't have to pay too as they did not charge my card for the no shows.
The round... well it was wet. After the first two holes we were starting to wonder why we were there. But half way threw the fourth hole it started to lighten up and turned out to be a not so bad day excepted for a few other moments. The ninth hole was especially exciting as the thunder and lightning were flashing and rumbling away. The picture above was taken of the ninth hole and there are several more on the individual stats page.
Also on a lighter note a new nickname was given out today with Kevin's last minute cancellation, as this has become a pattern with Kevin. JJ, Eric and myself decided it was time to call Kevin 'Rain Man'...
HackerXpoints went as follows: I was low man with an 86, not bad for those conditions. I also had most greens with 5 and low putts with 30. JJ hit the most fairways with 9. And Eric came closer to having his nicknamed changed to 'Charles Barkley' but with six majors to his name it will take a few more years of his hitch to have it changed to 'Charles Barkley' but he is on his way...
NUTTY FOR BUTTERNUT ........ 5-1-10
The newest member named Jay lets one rip at Butternut Farm.....
Only three hackers this Saturday following the Hackers Masters. By far the warmest day yet on the course, with many more blistering hot days ahead of us. The new member Jay was just nutty for the narrow fairways at Butternut and he wasn't alone, especially considering Mr. Flintstone plays his banana boat slice. But Craig did manage to hit the most fairways on the day, and we split low putts. Cainiac was low man with a 81 and also hit the most greens in regulation.
Red Tail next week: 8:20 and 8:30...
JJ RIPS UP MIDDLETON MIDWEEK ........ 4-29-10
JJ tees off on the 18th hole at Middleton golf course......
A midweek round for trip-J's at Middleton. However the winds were gusting to 50 miles per hour and it was a struggle. A nice golf course but most of the people that play there just don't get it... lol

The 2010 Masters was a slight mess up with an early morning frost delay giving us no time between rounds to relax and everyone was totally drained of energy including myself. And the Spider took full advantage and won his second straight Hackers Masters. Drew is also the only Hacker to win the Hackers Masters on two different courses, considering we usually play the Hackers Masters at Pinehills he will probably hold this record for a very long time. I should also mention that when he hit his second shot from the ladies tee, he also managed to par that hole.
The heavy favorite in this Hackers Masters had a very poor first round on the Jones course and even his 78 (days low round) was not enough to catch 'The Spider'...
Congratulations Drew on your second straight Hackers Masters...
2010 HACKERS MASTERS ........ 4-23-10
Will there be a record turn out for the 2010 Hackers Masters? Looks like it! Here are the current groupings for the first round and the odds to win the Hackers Masters.

LIKE TAKIN' CANDY FROM BABIES ........ 4-23-10
Once upon a time there was a golfer. Not much of a golfer, typical slice and lucky to break 100.
Then he started playing with a different group of guys and they decided to start a golf club. Suddenly this golfer went from shooting in the 100's to sometimes breaking 90.
After a few years this golfer was breaking 80, but they were still calling this golfer within the golf club, 'the best hacker never to win a major'. And that was fine because he usually had the low score, the handicaps kept him from winning so he knew sooner or later his time would come. And it did!
Now this golfer is ready to take his game to the next level and start shooting close to par or under par on occasion. And really start putting the pressure on his fellow club members.
Now the first major of the new season is here. What will happen? My guess is that it will be like taking candy from babies as this golfer dominates the field in this first championship of 2010. Hold on to your hat hackers as I can smell the first Hacker Grand Slam in the making...
SUNDAY AT CRANBERRY VALLEY ........ 4-18-10
JJ lets one rip at Cranberry Valley on Sunday......
It was rainy, then sunny, then rain again, but we finished in the sun. A crazy Sunday at Cranberry Valley and if it wasn't for my wrist being sore from all the work lately I would of had a better day. Now I will just have to let my wrist rest as much as possible this week for the Hackers Masters back at our Augusta National, Pinehills.... C U There.......
CRANBERRY VALLEY FOUR ........ 4-17-10
Four hackers made the trip to Cranberry Valley this Saturday. And they spread out the hackerXpts pretty good also. Eric did manage to bring home the most with nine, with the low round and low putts. Zengo had six points with most greens in regulation and JJ and Don had five points as they split most fairways.
Next week is the 5th Hackers Masters and it could be back at the right spot, Pinehills. Can not make tee times at Green Meadow until Monday so just incase I made tee times for Pinehills. They are 7:36, 7:45, and 7:54 on the Jones course, followed by 1:09, 1:18, and 1:27 on the Nicklaus course. Just incase I can not get good tee times for Green Meadow for some reason we have these ready to go.
THE WINDS AT CAPE COD ........ 4-10-10
John Morrill lets it rip on the par 3, ninth hole at Cape Cod Country Club into a strong left to right wind......
It was a nice day at Cape Cod Country Club and if it was not for the wind it would of been a perfect day. However the wind did take it's toll today on most of the hackers with five getting to triple digits and two just two shots away.
Low hacker this day was myself yet again with a 81, but then again I warned you guys I was taking my game to a whole new level. And I really have not put it all together yet, just wait until that happens.
The low man on putts was Mr. Leja who tied the NSHGC record for low putts with 24. He also hit the most fairways with 7. And I managed the most greens in regulation with 8. Cranberry Valley next week then the Hackers Masters. Bring it on....

FINE DAY AT WAVERLY ........ 4-3-10
Hackers finishing up at Waverly Oaks and Maher wonders what everyone else shot on this fine April day......
A fine day as the North Shore Hackers struggle as usual at Waverly Oaks. The site of the 2004 Club Championship and the location for the NSHGC OPEN until it officially closes.
On the difficult par 4, 15th hole, JJ gutted out a par with a 50+ foot putt. The putt also drained Kevin Maher's pocket of $10 as he bet both me and JJ no one would par the hole. I missed my 8 foot putt for par so JJ's 50+ footer was perfect timing.
Low round for the day was myself with an 80, Don hit the most fairways with nine. Fluff hit the most greens in regulation with six and I managed to just clip Zengo by two for low putts with 29. However, Oke had the shot of the day as he almost holed his tee shot on the 155 yard par 3, 14th hole. And then yes he did hit the putt for birdie...
Made three times for next week, as we currently have 9 hackers for Saturday 10 April so I hope some more of you can join us. Hittem' straight guys...
THE ISLAND GREEN ........ 3-27-10
Don 'Papa' Addington make the shot of the day.....
Don 'Papa' Addington should be called 'Mad Dog' from now on. He did miss the green on the island green par 3, but made the shot of the day out of the soup up onto the green. The island green was not nice to any of us on this Saturday. And a cold, windy Saturday it was for the official hacker round anyway as JJ and myself played a second eighteen holes as it did warm up during the day.
The official round almost produced a clean sweep of hackerXpts by myself, however Don did hit more fairways with eight. However, my second round 78 was the round of the day.
Looking forward to seeing more of you hackers soon...
ONLY 5 HACKERS ON OPENING DAY! ........ 3-20-10
Eric, Alex, Scott, and Don getting ready to attack Bass River to start the 2010 season...
The start of the 2010 season had the lowest turn out on opening day since 2004, with only five hackers making Bass River this Saturday. But it was a beautiful day and it was good to get the season started.
Don played with three other people behind us and ended up playing the white tee boxes while the rest of us played the blue tees. The only relevance there is Don and myself were low round 87 but since Don played the white tee boxes I will be awarded the HackerXpts for low round. However, Don did hit the most fairways with 11, Cainiac with most greens in regulation with 5, and Eric and myself tied with low putts, with 30.
Made two tee times for Lakeville Country Club at 8:50 and 9:AM for next Saturday hope we get to see more hackers next week. Something tells me that Waverly Oaks the following week will be the big turnout to start the season. Only time will tell... Tee it up Hackers...!

First to reply: Alex Zengo 17 hours after post (2 pts.)
The order I receive 5 correct answers: Alex Zengo (3 pts.), Scott Lomes (3 pts.), Adam Roberts (3 pts.), Brian O'Connor (3 pts.), JJ Gallant (3 pts.)
2010 BEGINS ........ 3-10-10
The 2010 NSHGC season officially begins this Monday and HackerXpts can start being accumulated. The first Saturday 20 March will be the first club Saturday event and the location has yet to be determined. However the most likely courses are Bass River, Highland Links, Widows Walk, Lakeville CC, or possibly Cape Cod CC or someplace else. But JJ and I will let you know ASAP... I hope we can have an awesome 9th season for the NSHGC...
GIMMIE THAT FISH? ........ 3-6-10
The first club toss of 2010..........
Three weeks in a row for the HackerJClub... lol JJ and I got 27 holes in at Far Corner today and play 27 different holes also. The last 9 on the newer 9 holes called the Hawk course as everyone seems to refer to it as. We play with Mike & Ike from the area and one of them started singing the Gimmie that fish song from the commercial and we all were singing the damn thing the whole round.
However the first round was much better playing the original eighteen holes under much sunnier sky's. I managed to clip JJ bye six strokes that round and finished with and 84, however Kevin from UNH beat me by four strokes and hit ten fairways. There are possibilities that we will see Kevin again this year.
The rest of the pictures from this round are on the Individual Stats page as usual. We will be looking for more hackers in the coming weeks. If anyone wants to play or is going to play somewhere lets JJ and I know. Golf season is here, it was at least 60 degrees today........
THREE HACKERS, AGAIN! ........ 2-20-10
Eric and JJ finishing up on the 7th green at Highland Links in North Truro, MA..........
Three die hard hackers find the only golf course open within 200 miles. The true Hackers but then again I guess that is why we are the President, VP, and Suckitary, huh? But it was worth the two hour drive down there. A great old course on a great day in February. As you will see in the other pictures on the Individual Stats page we just got in a full 18 holes.
If there are any other hackers that with to join the die hard hackers just let us know or find out on Saturday mornings as the last two weeks have been last minute decisions.
But we were the walking wounded today also. Eric with his bad back and my knee that looked like a softball from twisting it the night before. It was a feat in itself that I was able to just walk 18 holes. Forget about shooting 85 on top of it. But that 85 could of easily of been 78. But JJ was low man with an 84. If we can get out on that course during the summer sometime that would be awesome as I would love to play there when it is plush. Looking forward to seeing more of you hackers sometime soon.
THREE HACKERS START THE 2010 SEASON ........ 2-14-10
Eric Leja teeing off on the 6th hole at Sagamore in Hampton,NH..........
The North Shore Hackers Golf Club has begun the 2010 season at Sagamore in Hampton, NH. Not the official start as that will come soon enough on March 20th at Bass River possibly as Bass River is usually are starting point in March. And Waverly Oaks is usually first Saturday in April.
The three hackers that braved the snow this Saturday were Eric 'The Cripple' Leja and JJ 'The Bear' Gallant and myself. The rest of the pics of this day are on the Individual Stats page as usual. However, only nine holes were open but it was the only course we could find open on this day. Well worth the $15 to play, for this time of year anyway....
Important Dates to Remember for 2010:
1. March 20: HackerXCup points begin....
2. May 1: Hackers Masters at Green Meadow (Both rounds from blue tees)
3. June 5 & 6: NSHGC OPEN at Waverly Oaks (1st Rd. green tees, 2nd Rd. gold tees)
4. July 10 & 11: Match Play Championship at Links at Outlook ( Blue tees all rounds)
5. August 14 & 15: Club Championship at Bass River, Links at Outlook or Crumpin' Fox (1st Rd. white tees, 2nd Rd. blue tees or comparable. Links would be blue then black)
6. October 2: 1st Rd. of HackerXCup playoffs at Red Tail (Silver tees)
7. October 16: 2nd Rd. of HackerXCup playoffs at Waverly Oaks (Gold tees)
8. October 30: Last Rd. of HackerXCup playoffs at Widows Walk (White tees) if we use 3 rounds...?
THE HACKERS 2010 SEASON IS CLOSER ........ 2-6-10

This picture was taken on the 10th tee box at Gannon during my step-fathers funeral reception held at Gannon in 2000........
The North Shore Hackers Golf Club is about to begin it's ninth season, another year of adversity possibly. A bad economy certainly has not helped things at the NSHGC. And I am sure the number of rounds recorded this year may decrease again.
With a bad economy, a bad back with the Puppet Master, and a good Dad in Sandman we will be short handed for a good portion of this season. Not too mention hackers like the Spider who have a web that covers only a certain area.
But as we all know, that is life. And the NSHGC is a luxury we all wish we could enjoy more. I will do my best to make the schedule work as best as possible for all hackers.
Check your schedules as best you can and cross check it with the hackers schedule especially the major championships and the hackerXcup playoff dates.
Would like to get as much feedback as possible. The schedule is filled but doesn't take much to add, move, or subtract something to it. The Hackers Masters for instance, I would love to get back to Pinehills for that, but not sure it is financially wise for most of us.
With Waverly Oaks staying open we should resume our rotation for the NSHGC OPEN and play that championship at Shaker Hills.
This years Club Championship will be played at either Bass River, Links at Outlook, or Crumpin' Fox. Also it seems with the economy not recovering too soon we may have to post-pone the 10th Club Championship in 2011 at The Balsams to some place closer or one of the three I mentioned earlier.
We will have to save The Balsams for the 20th or 25th Club Championship. That way we will have had the first club championship at the Donald Ross Mt. Washington creation. Then the 25th at the majestic Donald Ross, The Balsams. That is probably how it should be anyway.
Then again, how many of us will be here in 2026 still playing? Then again there were only three of us at Mt. Washington, maybe only three of us will make it to 2026!
But let's start with this season and see if we can get threw it with some new winners in the majors again. However, I will be setting the bar this year as I plan on reaching the next level as a single handicap. Hopefully low singles.... NO shit... look out because I am going to light up the golf course like no other. Tiger fucking Woods who? WHO? I am the man, just wait and watch in awe...

LIGHTNING NO JOKE ON THE COURSE!........ 7-5-09
A man got hit
by lightning Monday morning on a golf course in Madison , WI . The following are
pics of what was left of his bag. Please pass this along to your golfing
buddies. Read the what the policeman says, then take a look at the pictures.
I have been a police officer for
18 yrs and have seen a lot of gruesome and disturbing scenes (if you can imagine
it, I have probably seen a variation of it) ... this one was different because
it hits close to home and some of us have been in this situation.
This 75 year old golfer (no
pictures of him) was out on the course with 3 other retired guys for a regular
weekly tee time, and the weather forecast didn't even predict rain at 10pm the
night before.
They teed off and got around to
the back nine when it started to rain, and when there was a little lightning way
off in the distance so they headed in. They waited under a tree half way in
when the rain became very heavy. When it let up a little bit three of them then
continued in but one guy decided to wait it out under a 50' pine with an
overhang of 10' while standing next to his bag.
Minutes later a lightning bolt
struck his bag and push cart as he was holding onto one of his clubs killing him
instantly.
On the top of the first photo
you will see what was left of his driver ... also in a later photo are little
brown clumps which used to be golf balls.
Most of the items in the bag
simply disintegrated from the heat and intense initial zap - including the
labels to his ping irons and Cleveland woods (which all popped off). The
electricity burned holes into the bottoms of the clubs.
The strange thing is the tree
under which he was standing had no sign of a lightning strike.. The bolt
literally went sideways under the tree to the golf clubs.
Lesson to be learned - If you are caught out on the course or water
... distance yourself
from anything metal OR graphite.
(Did you know that lightning rods are
often made of graphite?) Put
your cart 50' away from you! When
you see lightning off in the distance GO
IN IMMEDIATEL-, DON'T
WAIT.
